FM 12 and Sierra 10.12.6

Kirk Larson-2
I have a customer that is trying to install FM 12 client on Sierra 10.12.6.

It's hosted on a FM 12 server.

He is getting the error message that it was installed incorrectly.

I had him contact FM support. They told him he could not install it on that os.

Can he?

If not - if they are not developing, just using the scripts, if he went to FM14 what problems will he run into?

As far as I know, any scripts that were created in 12 should run fine in 14. It’s been my experience that going up versions doesn’t usually cause too many problems, it’s when you want to go down versions that you end up with issues.

I was getting the same error installing FM 11 in macOS Sierra 10.12.6. Found this solution and it worked fine:

Copy the complete content of the Installer.dmg to your hard drive. Then right-click on the "FileMaker Pro 11.mpkg" --> "Show Package Contents". In there is a file "Assisted Install.txt", enter your license information and set AI_REGISTRATION to 0, save the changes. Right-click "FileMaker Pro 11.mpkg" choose "Open".
Now it should install fine.
